Hazen is located in the central region, ofPrairie County, around 43 miles east ofLittle Rock. The Rock Island Depot is recorded on the National Register of Historic Places. Chairman Kathryn Orlicek was influential in reestablishing the repository and, with the assistance of a few local ladies’ clubs, raised cash for the task. Of the four Rock Island Railroad warehouses initially in Arkansas, the Hazen depot is one of a kind stucco and brick structure with a slate rooftop. The present First United Methodist Church building is the most established church structure in Hazen, having been established 1934. The greatest yearly occasion for the community is the Rice Festival in October.
