Rabbit Island, Alabama
Rabbit Island, AL, is a 26-acre island that lies alongside the Alabama and Florida border just off Ono Island. Donated to the state’s Nature Conservancy, this small island is known for its saltwater snake and diamondback terrapin population and a variety of migrating shorebirds who nest there. This unique example of costal marshland is an important, yet delicate, ecosystem that can only be visited with prior reservations to limit human impact.
